Published images are vital in the life sciences. Giving visual evidence for product use, they help to amplify the impact of fascinating research and showcase innovative products.
We're thrilled to announce our winning image this year, produced by Timin & Milinkovitch at the University of Geneva.
This striking 3D image of a whole mouse embryo is from the group's groundbreaking research on imaging the collagen network architecture within complex tissue structures - importantly focusing on keeping the tissue integrity intact.
In this work, they introduced a method for whole-mount collagen staining using the 'Fast Green' dye, for examination via confocal or light-sheet microscopy with a Miltenyi UltraMicroscope Blaze. This is a fantastic demonstration of innovative staining, tissue clearing and light sheet imaging techniques to further understanding of complex biological structures.
